Golden fields

One of the things that pleasantly surprised us about Orkney was how 'rich' and mild it was compared to the West Highlands.

Maybe I didn't pay attention at school but I always assumed it was a crofting community, but the reality was that farming was the mainstay of the economy before oil and even now it's still hugely important to the economy and the culture.

Another day spent exploring the island and really enjoying it all.
