Artist Tom Thomson's cabin

Tom Thomson was one of Canada's finest, most famous, and influential artists. His work inspired the Group of Seven, Doris McCarthy, Emily Carr, and many others. This is his cabin on the grounds of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection - a gallery in nearby Kleinburg, Ontario. I was teaching next door at a public school today.

The cabin was moved here decades ago from the Rosedale Valley in Toronto. My father, Paul Watt, was an artist and illustrator and rented the cabin for a month back in the late 1940s when it was still in Toronto.

The grounds contain wonderful statues and sculptures and several members of the Group of Seven are buried here.
