Banal
I've been catching up with some photography documentaries on YouTube including the BBC Imagine profile of William Eggleston and an excellent film of the life and work of Avedon.
I'm in two minds about these celebrity photographers - although they are very different - I swing from loving their work to strongly disliking it. Eggleston's love of the banal can be very banal it'self and Avedon's love affair with both his, and his sitters celebrity can seem a bit of a two way ego fest....
....but at their best they can produce the most sublime images.
