Monday 31 October 2011: The Titan Crane

I was at Clydebank College this morning and the Titan Crane sits just alongside it. They are both on a historic shipbuilding site - the old John Brown's Yard where the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth were built - but the crane is now an "A" listed structure and visitor attraction , hence the lift shaft attached to it.

I went up when I was Culture Minister but the combination of exposed height and metal lattice flooring at the top made me more than a little cautious as well as full of admiration for those who once worked on it every day.
