Hatched

The swallows eggs have hatched. There are five tiny chicks all tucked up together with mum and dad swooping in and out of the shed to feed them. I feel quite protective towards them and am very careful to make sure the cats can't venture in. Last year the swallows managed to rear two sets of chicks before beginning their journey back to warmer climes. No sign of any young in the nest next door where the wren lives, although it's difficult to know because it's completely enclosed save for a tiny little front door!
