Wednesday 11 January 2012: So Far, So Good.
There have been exciting developements in Fairmilehead Park.
Following our recent meetings with the council's Community Parks Officer regarding the absence of water flowing to the pond, which has dried up, the contractor came today with a digger to see what is going wrong.
He spent most of the morning digging out several huge stone blocks that protected the outlet pipe and by the time he'd got down to sandy mud there was a sudden flow of water from a wee plastic pipe (you can see this in large). This was quite a surprise because on the last visit there was a trickle coming from the right side. Further digging there exposed a larger concrete pipe which at the moment seems to serve no purpose. As the flow continued it became clear that the streambed to the pond had gradually filled with silt and was too high for the flow so the digger was to dig a trench all the way to the pond.
We now need a few good showers of rain to test the result.
