Wednesday 18 January 2012: Are you looking out for lichens?
Then look at me!
I'm Pleurosticta acetabulum and I'm really fabulous - check me out in the BIG version!
In this case I'm growing on an old lime tree (Tilia) outside Z's office. The species I belong too is often found on old trees (like ash, lime or elm) close to unpaved roads, in orchards or extensive pastures.
The cupshaped 'thingies' on me are my apothecia (check wikipedia tomorrow, when they're up again), where my spores are produced.
One Year Ago: Unexpected snails
Cheers!/Pleuro (M & Z says hello, too!)
