Thursday 19 January 2012: 21. live music
we are incredibly lucky to live in a state that has an abundance of live music to begin with - not to mention the self-proclaimed "live music capital of the world," austin.
i made a very quick drive down to austin last night to see my favorite band, the mountain goats, play at my favorite austin club, antone's. my friend taylor came with me (thank god). we left dallas at 3:30p and i got back to fort worth at 3:30a the next morning.
returning to austin is always bittersweet, i love that place, with it's terrible traffic and incredible weirdness and hipster overload.
but anyway, live music. living in austin, there's multiple live music choices every night - it's not quite as abundant outside of the city, but there is a rich musical heritage here, and regardless, austin makes up for whatever lack is elsewhere.
some of you might have heard of ACL, which is the annual music festival in zilker park and one of the mainstays of the austin music scene.
