Tuesday 24 January 2012: Macro fly

A hover fly known as a drone fly on a yellow flower (Apparently it's a fly because it seems to only have one pair of wings and bees have two - so I'm reliably informed by the resident biologist!).

The flower I think is a type of coreopsis - (biologist tells me he's a zoologist and therefore doesn't do flowers!)

found the fly on this website - makes for interesting reading.
