£1 for Chippy

And why am I photographing half of a £1 coin? Chippy has been experimenting recently with very close up shots of these coins, and I offered to try one with my Canon 100mm macro lens. Full frame, at the widest aperture of f/2.8, this is the best I can do. You have to be 0.3m from the object to obtain focus.

For those interested, it is a 2005 British £1 coin, made of nickel and brass, designed by Edwina Ellis, a representation of the Menai Suspension Bridge inside a border of railings and stanchions. The Bridge crosses between the Island of Anglesey and Wales, and was designed by Thomas Telford.

All weathers today. A beautiful sunrise, followed by strong winds, then black as night around noon. Torrential rain and then snow. The gritter was out by 8.30 pm. If all that freezes overnight, the roads will be treacherous tomorrow.
