Tuesday 31 January 2012: Flying fish and mobile phone shaped skyscrapers

Santiago is a pleasant city of contrasts as hopefully today's Blip conveys.

It was shot from the backstreets in Bellavista near the Pablo Neruda museum (one of Chile's most celebrated poets). I am not too familiar with Neruda's work but think the mural may feature some of his prose. The flying fish are pretty cool.

In the distance you can see a skyscraper which is called the Movistar building. The creative architect designed it in the shape of a mobile phone even with a mock antenna. Movistar are a huge Latin American mobile network provider.

A relatively quiet day today as tomorrow is a very, very special day.
