View From Our Street

This shot looks up our street in Paris's 13th arrondissement. Our building is the white one in the middle distance, and our apartment is on the 4th floor, on the right side over the street, just below the terraces. Lots of detail to view in large.

Here is a snowy view looking down the street from our apartment (exactly in the opposite direction). The two huge white buildings in the background are part of the large shopping center Italie 2 at the Place d'Italie (10 minutes walk from here; we often take the 57 bus from the stop on the right).

In this view the initials MGC on the left stand for the Mutuelle Générale des Cheminots (roughly, the general mutual association of the railway workers union). Despite the union connection, the MGC is now open to all, as a health insurance organization (doubtless supplementary to the general health coverage provided by the government). The headquarters of the railway union is in an adjoining building.
