Waterfoot Sunrise

The Sounds of Spring

Some days its the sight of a gorgeous sunrise that lifts the spirits and others it might be the smell of fresh blossoms. However, as I set out on my Sunday morning run it was the stillness that caught my attention and the bird songs that began to fill the air. They seemed to have just woken up from their slumbers and were darting about before heading to the feeders.

The clearest of all the songs was that of the Chaffinch, making the sounds that are so reminiscent of Spring. The little Blue Tits joined in with their more subdued twittering and other unidentified bird songs from the woods formed the background. By the time I got to the beach it was the Gulls, Oyster Catchers and Curlews that sounded much noisier than usual, due in part at least to the still air.

A few breaks appeared in the clouds and the mist hung over the hills at the back of Carradale. Instead of looking seawards for a blip. I took a few shots of Deer Hill and Carradale Glen. The empty caravan site is in the foreground of this shot.

Heading off shortly for a few days away in Perthshire with some friends. Not sure if the hotel has wi-fi so may end up back blipping when I get home. Anyway, the weather looks reasonable and we are looking forward to a change of scenery!
