Maggie @ Abingdon

Underneath the arches

Glorious weather today! Just couldn't resist another mooch around.

Taken from underneath Burford Bridge. The spire in the distance is that of St Helen's church.

One of the two interlinked bridges in Abingdon, it was built in the 1450s as an extension to the existing Abingdon Bridge. It's obviously been restored and reconstructed several times since (last in 1927)! However the structure apparently still includes and embeds parts of several of the original arches.
