A Walk on the Wild Side

Today was something of a red letter one in that His Lordship was not out striding the Biggar Hills with his mates. Apparently there was no one available to come out to play, and he has remained at home cramping my style, eager to spend his out -from- behind -the- door time with me.
I was indeed honoured and willing to put my solo plans aside for his company.

We set off for a walk on the wild side in Holyrood Park; and wild it was with a strong west wind, but mild and dry.

Needless to say on the way we had to pass the Engine Shed, a Garvald run cafe, and sample their scones. A big tick in that box and at a very modest price too.

Next door was the Nomad's Tent, a warehouse selling exotic carpets, rugs, furniture and pretty knick knacks from the Middle East. We had a wander round admiring, but realising we no longer have the space to indulge.

The views over the Old Town from the path behind the Nomad's Tent were so clear, and demanded much blipping.
I do love this view with Calton Hill, the Nelson Monument, Edinburgh's Disgrace and the Governor's House( which may become the official residence of the First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond) to the right of the frame.

On the way home we went in to the nearly opened refurbished Royal Commonwealth Pool, but were only allowed to set foot in the appointed space near the door which gave us an extremely limited view of the pool.
It opens to the public on 21st March- you heard it here first!

The crocuses are now in full bloom in the Meadows and I can begin to hope that all those snow shovels which have been so prominently on display since the first dire warnings of a winter of snow, will have to be saved for next year.
