Ross the Rhody

There are signs of spring in the air - just enough to make us hopeful of some higher temperatures. I have some daffodils out in the garden and this grand rhodedendron has its first bud about to explode into bloom.

Unfortuntaly these signs have coincided with yet another cold snap bringing yet more snow down to yet lower levels! Passes over the Southern Alps have been closed, people have been snowed in, trees have collapsed under the weight of the snow and some places have had their electricity supply cut off.

But there was an hour today when you could have sworn spring was here!
