Thursday 1 March 2012: Scots got everywhere

This plaque on a wall of Ramshorn Kirk in Glasgow's Merchant City commemorates Sir John Macdonald, first PM of Canada, who was born round here.
I love all these blue plaques and landmark signs in out-of-the-way places which pay tribute to historical figures, many of whom made their names in different corners of the globe. It's true, Scots did get everywhere.
This church is now used as a theatre, there is another plaque on the door describing it as a Gothic Revival building dating back to 1824.
