Saturday 3 March 2012: Drying out
We had a drenching last night. I went hunting for insects and drip shots in the garden this morning in between showers. After a very unsuccessful hunt around I was coming back into the house and spotted this butterfly. It was a perfect model and stood very still for me and no it wasn't dead because half an hour later it had flown off. I think it is an admiral but will defer to those that know better.
Having internet problems so I am still behind in commenting. Hope you are all having a good weekend.
Edit: Thanks to GulZiyenne for identifying this as Orchard Swallowtail Butterfly aka Large Citrus Butterfly (Papilio aegeus)
