The Red Cross hold a "Scarecrow" festival every February in Kirkwall. Homemade scarecrow competition, stalls, music, dancing and of course refreshments (nothing happens in Orkney without tea and biscuits).

There was an ambulance for the kids to check out. But the driver was looking a bit strange. Not sure whether he'd escaped from Dr Who or the Wizard of Oz.
