Wet and windy

Woke this morning to persistent rain, which has continued all day long, both at the beach and now back here in Auckland.

The challenge topic for this week is wet. This picture was taken from the bank above the sand of Snells Beach. It was almost half an hour after sunrise, yet it is still very gloomy. The rain over the bay is such that Kawau Island can't be seen; I couldn't see it either, not just the camera. The wind is blowing the water in and there are thick strands of seaweed all along the beach.

Wet is not a happy topic for me right now. We got back to the beach house after a couple of weeks away to find that the floor in the lowest level of the house was wet. Jesafly put her architectly skills to work, and figured where things may have gone wrong. Builder came, agreed and arranged to come today to sort things out.

First task was to lift the sodden floor boards and start the drying process. He then investigated the drain that should have prevented this. Just before we had to leave to come back to Auckland this afternoon, he showed me a photo he had taken with his iPhone of a large piece of concrete over part of the plastic drain. This appears to be the problem, and should therefore be fixable. Water. We need it; just not in the wrong places.
