Caen Hill Locks

Day off today so I wanted to go somewhere to get a great blip.

I'd seen a TV programme about the Caen Hill Locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal so we went there.

In the programme seeing the 16 locks rise up the hill was an amazing site. Not sure that my photo does it justice.

We started the walk at the Kennet and Avon Canal museum in Devizes and walked down the hill so that I could take the photo.

That meant then walking back up the hill to the car.

The Kennet and Avon canal is links two rivers. The River Avon flowing from Bristol to Bath and the River Kennet at Newbury, which in turn flows into the River Thames. In all, the waterway incorporates more than 100 locks.

The 57-mile canal section was constructed between 1794 and 1810

We met lots of lovely people and their dogs. Milo is a very tired boy
