Margaret and Declan's Wedding

We were out gadding today at Margaret and Declan's wedding. I've known Margaret for about six years - she was acting principal at the school when I was covering for the principal's sabbatical. We hit it off straight away and although she is now Principal of her own school we have kept in touch. Declan has been married before and their local priest said they could only have a blessing behind closed doors so they headed down to Durrus where the protestant vicar gave a wonderful inclusive service to a majority of Catholics, culminating in the bride and groom skipping down the aisle to 'I'm a Believer' by the Monkees. Margaret looked stunning and was wearing her late mother's wedding dress complete with little pill box hat. We then headed on to Bantry where we ate, drank and danced - as usual I attracted the drunken cousin and was whisked off to do an energetic waltz! Irishmen are fantastic dancers and a few pints doesn't seem to be a hindrance! We left at midnight after the tea, sandwiches and chips. The band was just warming up for the second half. You need a lot of stamina for this kind of thing!
