Thursday 29 March 2012: Spanish General Strike
Sitting in a cafe transmitting my images from what was a busy morning covering the Gemeral Strike here in Spain today. Lots of British holidaymakers caught up in the protests along the beach and most of them not having a clue what was going on. I took hundreds of images so this is just a spare one, more a personal sort of image, which would never see the light of day in any newspaper.
The country is on strike over new labour reforms brought in by the recently elected government. They've now made it easier for companies to sack workers on short notice and have drastically cut redundancy payments. Funnily enough, the Prime Minister made no mention of this during the election campaign.
