Saturday 31 March 2012: Ladybird comparison
After yesterday's giant ladybird (ladybug) revelation, I thought it would be interesting to do a comparison, so I had a hunt around and soon found two normal sized bugs, having already found the yellow giant and failed to capture a flight shot.
All three were shot at minimum focal distance and were merged pixel for pixel, so an accurate comparison has been achieved. Now you can really see the enormity of the difference. Saying the yellow is twice as long, which is true, does not adequately describe the size difference. Twice as long also means four times the area and eight times the volume and weight!
Just a pity I didn't get better shots of the other two bugs, but these things are surprisingly difficult to capture, being in constant motion. I did collect more dragon shots today, but this was an easy blip choice.
