Lala Land

Lali, Gordon and Katie on the East Beach, Dunbar.

Big Beach.

We were really excited that Lali was coming to visit and I did all the housework before setting off to meet her train. If we leave West Barns on the bike just as she leaves Edinburgh on the train, we'll be just in time... But as we pedalled along the road into Belhaven we saw her train pass us! She very generously said in her Blip that we were waiting for her, but the truth is we arrived a little late ;)

With the children guiding us, we headed off round the coast starting at the East Beach via the harbours and the castle.

I had hoped to take Lali to the harbour mouth which is pretty exciting in this windy weather, but the lifting bridge was up so we couldn't get across. When we met the Harbour Master later on the walk, I asked about it and he explained that the bridge has broken. A nuisance for us, but much worse for the folks that were on the far side when it broke - they were stranded. And guess what? The LIFEBOAT rescued them - that would be a day out to remember!

Then off to the Vollies (The Volunteer Arms) for a meal and several refreshments with Euphemist and Red. Great banter and time for sweeties and ice-cream from Sweet Occasions before a play in the park and a leisurely wander back to the station.

I had hoped to show Lali the Esplanade walk round to Belhaven, but that will have to wait til next time ;)
