Another Woodpecker

This morning on Radio 4 there was a programme about the light of the lesser spotted woodpecker, formerly known as the barred woodpecker. While there has been a significant increase in the population of the Greater Spotted, seen here, numbers of their smaller cousins have dropped by as much as 90% and are they are now on the list of the Rare birds breeding panel.

On Sunday we saw our first Lesser spotted at Moore Reserve. Today we went back again and were once again rewarded with a great show. Unfortunately it is quite small and I was unable to take a decent photograph of it.
