Wednesday 4 April 2012: Our Snowy Day
Snow has caused havoc throughout the country with many homes left last night without electricity. In Cumbria we got off very lightly. Yesterday I had driven home through a horizontal snow shower, tree trunks were being plastered, but by this morning it was obvious that not much of it had lasted on the ground around home.
As I drove to work the sun was shining and in the distance Blencathra was shining with its covering of snow. I would have liked to have driven a few miles closer to it but I had to take The Mother shopping then open the shop by 10 as my assistant is on holiday.
I hadn't had very many snowy shots in my journal this winter so I'm glad I got this chance today!
