Thursday 5 April 2012: Violet haze

The golden yellow moss that carpets the quarry floor
was studded with purple flowers,
a galaxy of hairy violets
each one jostling for space,
interlaced with the trailing stems of ground ivy,
all fringed with gold by the setting sun.
