Let There Be Light

Rambo

About fifteen years ago, I planted a cutting from the last known living apple tree in Nova, Ohio that was sowed by John Chapman, a nurseryman also known as Johnny Appleseed.

I purchased it from American Forests a non-profit conservation organization established in 1876 because Appleseed and my son shared the same birthday: September 26th.

The tree is blooming profusely now and I'm really looking forward to a good crop of Rambo apples. They're tart but tasty and I love the fact that I can hold an heirloom in my hand and be connected to a remarkable time period and a remarkable man.
