Allez Edimbourg!

Despite appearances there were almost 40,000 inside Murrayfield to watch the Heineken Cup quarter final between Edinburgh and Toulouse. When the stadium can fit a bit over 60k there are always going to be gaps, but trust me, the noise when things got going was great.

Edinburgh seemed inspired, and deservedly beat their high-calibre opponents 19-14 (having been down 10-14 at half time). They certainly weren't helped by a lot of dodgy refereeing, and at one point were down to 13 men, and possibly should have had a penalty try for a tackle without the ball. But hey, that all falls to the side when they've had as good a win as this.

I was there with Mel's dad and our friend Mary, and both came back to the house for a slap-up curry made by Mel (well, I contributed the dessert, but that was put into the shade by the fantastic rest of the meal). Somehow it got to 1am playing cards after that...

Bit of a sporting weekend with the Paris-Roubaix cycle race tomorrow - Belgian beer has been procured and I'll be watching that with a couple of friends, trying not to quaff too much as I've got to make dinner when I get back.
