Lake Hawea

Very hot day.

Drove into Wanaka and found a park just two cars up from the entrance into the show grounds. First we went to find out where and what Mother was needed for. Once that was organised we meandered around looking at some of myriad stalls and displays set up. Found various family and friends and enjoyed a coffee and the sights and sounds for a while. It has been many decades since I was last at a Wanaka A&P show.

Decided to go back to our home-stay for a nana- nap but detoured for a look around Mothers old stamping grounds.

Hawea Lake was formed when a hydro dam was built across the Hawea river. Many, many years later it has settled in to the landscape and adds to the collective beauty of this central Otago landscape. Even more beautiful in Winter with snow on the mountains.
