Tuesday 10 April 2012: we are not amused
Back to summer today...noooooo! Thought we had left heat and humidity behind but not so.
Returned to an old walking spot for me but new for the hound. In a valley with a winter creek, lumpy granite boulders and lovely light, I spotted a curious looking 'branch' on a eucalypt.
A tawny frogmouth!
What a HUGE treat and as they disguise themselves as twigs and small branches and think they can't be seen you can get very close as they don't fly off.
With the two of us scrambling through crunchy undergrowth and Astro puffing like a steam train, not exactly a quiet approach. But well rewarded.
A wonderful and very special few minutes today.
