A City of the Future from when I was a lad

Using some of the best minds in the country and top design artists we present you with our vision of the future. Believe it or not those sleek streamlined shapes are what today's scientists and engineers imagine we shall all be driving in the year 2000. There will be no more decoking your Morris Minor every 6 months - these automobiles of tomorrow will be powered by miniature jet turbine engines that run on nothing more than distilled water and powdered rice. And there will be no need to steer these marvels of modern transportation either: Each machine will be programmed to arrive at your destination by following the special gold tracks at the side of the road whilst being instructed where to navigate by an on-board computer (no bigger than a large suitcase) reading a perforated paper tape that you have previously made on a special hand-held punching machine.
Based on scientific facts we already know, scientists are drawing up plans that will make future living a constant joy and a pleasure. Your destination could well be one of those ultramodern apartment blocks in the artist's depiction. You will arrive at your home whereupon your car and your family will be hoisted to your living quarters where you will find your robot servant busy cooking a recipe based upon its memory bank, stored on miniature spools of magnetic tape, of over a hundred different exotic dishes from around the world.
