Images of India

Today I went to see an exhibition of a great artist friend of mine, Steve Empson. He has travelled extensively in India and this exhibtion focused on his images of India.

The reflecting glass in the pictures has prevented me from blipping my favourite pictures - of the tombs in Mandu. There was one huge stunning charcoal drawing of one of the tombs that was absolutely magnificent but would require a room the size of a large barn to display it in its rightful setting. Most of the pictures on display can be viewed on his website.

The exhibition is in Cuddesdon, a lovely village between Oxford and Great Milton. It was a wonderful afternoon with chai and Indian sweets for added warmth on this sunny cold spring day.

It was difficult to choose a blip - Oxfordshire countryside, chai brewing, one of Steve's interesting collection of Ganesha's which were on display, and any of the rusty metal objects and sculptures around the place would have made an interesting blip. Instead I went for one of Steve's smaller images which was out of the light and displayed as only an artist would see to display it to perfection.

Steve is now focusing on painting and drawing in the north east - it's well worth checking out his pictures of the north east coast of England which are also on his website.
