A Little Jurassic

Otherwise known as Gunnera (other names unknown). Even when fully matured I think these look primeval. At the moment the way the leaves are unfurling, the unusual flowers and thorns one could almost expect a dinosaur to appear.
These are in the gardens down from City Mill on the banks of the River Itchen.
We walked into Winchester along the river through the water meadows and came out at the back of Winchester College where they are removing all the filming equipment. It seems Russell Crowe having murdered English accents in a number of films is to do the same to a French accent in Les Miserables.
We met a couple who had come to Winchester especially because the Bishop's Enthronement, that they thought was yesterday, would produce a lovely floral display in the Cathedral. I hope they will not be too disappointed as the Bish Bash is today and the Cathedral is closed.
