Sunday 22 April 2012: Sunday Afternoon, Port Bannatyne

I was in Rothesay this afternoon, speaking at a public meeting in support of the two excellent sitting SNP Councilros for Bute, Isobel Strong and Robert MacIntyre. Fortunately the sun came out as I arrived and stayed till I left.

This is Port Bannatyne seen from across Kames bay.

Port Bannatyne - known locally as "the port" - has a local school that was saved from closure last year.

The port has always been an attractive place for holidaymakers and weekenders from across the Clyde, with a lot of little flats behind the quayside which are used regularly by their owners. There is also a growing marina just to the right of this shot and an imaginatively diversified post office where you can sit outside and drink a very good cup of coffee.
