Flying the Flag

Here we see Wifie with Laurel and Hardy outside the Coronation Hall in Ulverston. The flag festival in the town coincided with PrintFest in the Coro. PrintFest takes place annually, and every year we say we will go and admire but not be tempted by the work of 50 printmaking artists from all over Britain and beyond. Every year, our resolve is tested and last night was no exception.

The first exhibitor inside the door was Angela Harding who was featured in the latest Country Living magazine. The nearest print to the door was her Blackbird and Red Rose, and this proved just too tempting. But then it could be hardly more appropriate for our home with a garden full of blackbirds and overgrown roses.

This year, there is a Print Trail around town as well as Print Fest. And in the first stop on the trail, in Tina Balmer's house are hanging 5 of Wifie's own prints. This is the first time she has ever exhibited anything publicly, and she was just a little nervous. But Tess who was with us and Maggie, said they held up well with the work of the established artists who were there.

Print Fest is on all this weekend for anyone who is anywhere near Ulverston. Go and be tempted.
