Woodland glory

Took a trip through the St Ives estate on my way to do a bit of shopping this morning.
My tree has very little spring growth on it - I had to get up really close to check it wasn't actually dead. Do sweet chestnut trees always develop leaf growth so late?

On the way along the main drive there are still lots of bluebells so I stopped to take a few shots of them Here, but I spotted this Rhodedendron across the road amongst the trees. Not the usual large showy versions and it reminded me of the ones we saw in the Himalaya which had few flowers but all seemed to be this colour.
