Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

What a difference a day makes!

The view from our window across to the ancient kirkyard of Dervaig. We went to bed enjoying a glorious sunset at the end of a day of sun and blue skies. We awoke to a deluge which continued for the whole day - our last whole day on Mull!
Alastair MacLean wrote the 1965 action novel 'When Eight Bells Toll' and the screen play for the 1971 film version. The film, starring starring Anthony Hopkins and Jack Hawkins was in the same vein as Bond movies, with a British agent Philip Calvert is on a mission to determine the whereabouts of a ship that disappeared near the coast of Scotland. Part of the film was shot on Mull including a fight between Philip Calvert and two men in this very graveyard.
