Larger Than Life

No blipper was injured in the taking of this picture, despite the early hour and wind chill factor, bringing with it the ever present danger of May frost bite .

This mural has appeared elsewhere in Edinburgh journals, but I like to think not from this angle. It is an actual portrait of a young native, a nicely spoken young man if I remember from an interview, and not a hoodie as might be suspected from his picture.

His Lordship and I had an assignment in the land of the flat pack this morning. We knew what we wanted and having loaded the barrow it was pushed at inordinate speed through the store by himself, such that I had to trot to keep pace, and couldn't feast my eyes on any other goodies on display.

On the way out, I persuaded him that a cone of E numbers masquerading as ice cream would finish the foray in a satisfactory manner, and so we sat on a bench like so many old age pensioners one has seen over the years at the beach, licking and watching; no beach and sparkling blue sea here though, just cash points, trolleys filled to overflowing and fractious children.

People can be so nice. I say this because today I got a pretty notelet from a fellow blipper's mother saying how much she enjoyed reading my journal. Thank you Mary, it means a lot to me.
I am quite often in the Art Cafe in Penicuik myself - it used to be a favourite stopping off point on our bikes, before the long haul up to the West Linton turn off.
