Tonight was the opening reception for the Studio Montclair Gallery show which runs through August 14th. My photograph of my son (above) had been accepted much to my surprise and I feel very humbled to be among some extremely talented artists.

SMI Gallery is is showing two exhibits concurrently: Go Figure and Portraits: Beneath the Surface. Here's the press release for the one I'm in:

"Go Figure," curated by gallery directors, Virginia S. Block & Karen Nielsen-Fried, presents artwork showing figures in interior spaces and landscapes The exhibit explores the human figure as interpreted by artists in both realistic and abstract forms. Artwork in several mediums is included. Please join Studio Montclair on May 18th from 6-8pm at the SMI Virginia S. Block Gallery for the reception that coincides with Montclair's annual gallery walk.

Featured Artists:

Marjori Abramson, Ron Brown, Rodriguez Calero, Brian Croshaw, Andrea Geller, Barbara Greaux, Lissanne Lake, Arlene Lieberman, Michele LoManto, Rudy Martin, Nancy Ori, Catherine Schmitt, Ludlow Smethurst, Linda Streicher, Brian Stymest, and Laurie Waite-Fellner.

The show coincided with National Museum Day and Montclair's Gallery Walk. It was great fun to see so many people attend the opening and listen as they expressed their opinions about the work. And boy, were they opinionated! Serious critics, those Montclair peeps! Luckily for me, the woman above who appears to be surveying my photograph, really liked mine. What a relief! She's an illustrator by trade who was very dismisssive of someone else's work.

I took about a hundred photos; the art work was simply beautiful and so interesting to interpret. I'm having a celebratory glass of wine now because tomorrow it's back to normal and back to the garden.

Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
