Zinneke Parade

So after a two day bank holiday (where everything seemed shut) to start of our city trip, we got to day three and had the place at a standstill for the Zinneke Parade. Apparently Zinneke is a nickname for folk fae Brussels, and this was the 2012 date for their eponymous biennial parade.

This year's theme was Disorder, and well, ummm, yeah. There were lots of folk out for it, taking part and even more lining the route. Each group seemed to have its own style and story to tell, stopping every so often to do their turn.
Not entirely sure what the story was with this lot, but it involved a good amount of effort to stage. Here's a breakdown of their group (from what i could tell):
1x huge cardboard man/monster
1x man & woman (assumed as a couple)
2x cardboard Citron vans with news crews
1x further on the ground news crew
1x van shaped like a large burger
1x house (that explodes into 5 pieces, containing people)
1x an absolute shed load of fire crackers

Pretty impressive stuff.

Just don't ask me what it was about.

Speaking of impressive stuff, saw an exhibition of photography by Stanley Kubrick. It was a surprisingly vast exhibit, and featured some really great shots. He certainly new his way around a camera.
