Bird at Lake Louise

The birds at Lake Louise, near Banff in the Canadian Rockies, are really used to people, as this one proved by eating out of someone's hand. It was hard to choose which of the bird pictures I would use, because they all turned out so well.

And once again, this was shot with the 50mm prime lens. It was cloudy and gray weather, yet I could freeze this bird in mid-air at 1/800 sec (ISO 200 at f/2.5). Despite its apparent simplicity, I am loving this lens more and more.

I did heavy editing on the colours and brightness, because the original was shot in cloudy, gray light. The colour of the lake in the background is actually more realistic this way.
