A Swan Family Outing in Haddington

A prefect day for the inhabitants of the Dower House

A 9am start with bicycles, an early start to miss the traffic
Short sleeves and cycling sandals with no socks.
Wall to wall blue sky with not a cloud in sight.
Fife hills lying over the water in a deep blue haze

Quiet roads lined with hawthorn hedges in a profusion of blossom
Dark shadows of trees criss- crossing the route ahead.

Swathes of mustard yellow rape seed contrasting with blue green arable fields
Hedgerow flowers in abundance: buttercups, daisies, yellow ragwort, shepherds purse, dandelions, red campion, blue forget-me-nots and purple vetch.

Our senses filled with flowery perfume and bird song.
A gentle cooling breeze making perfect cycling in the heat.

An ice cream in Haddington and a soft drink at Port Seton, then home to get ready for a meal tonight at the newly opened Malaysian Restaurant in Quartermile

A perfect day for the inhabitants of the Dower House.
