Straight from the cow

You can't get much more direct from producer to consumer than this! We went to Promaude, the local produce show, today, and this guy was milking the cow into plastic cups and dishing them out to the kids. She was very patient.

Promaude has been going for 23 years -- it's an important opportunity for local producers and artisans to promote their wares. You can taste and buy bread, olives, cheese, charcuterie, foie gras, soap made of donkey milk, goat's or sheep's milk ice cream, beer ... and wine of course. There are also the obligatory donkey rides, a bouncy castle, a cheese-making workshop for children, Occitan musicians, and since this is France, several tents where lunch is served. We had lunch here and wouldn't have minded hanging around for the dog agility show, which is always hilarious. But it was so hot that we went home for a siesta instead.
