Visible Art

This is a small part of the Fish Sculpture in the Dean Garnier Garden at Winchester Cathedral.. It is made from stainless steel and Kirkstone Green slate and is 2.5 metres tall.
The garden stands on the site of the communal dormitory. It is broken up into three parts. First, there is the Dorter Garden, with its splendid medlar tree set in a lawn. Then through an arched arbour with climbing plants leading to the Presbytery Garden. At the far end there is the Lady Chapel Garden, hidden behind a yew hedge. It is a lovely place to sit and even when the city and Cathedral are full of people it is quiet.
I like the shading, texture and mottled effect of the steel in this, something that does not come across when seen as a whole.
