Lacy Phacelia

No it really isn't rude.
It is an annual herb which grows to about 1m. Originally native to the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico, but it is now used in many places in agriculture as a cover crop. Bees love it and it attracts other beneficial insects such as hoverflies that are useful as biological pest control and it looks lovely.
We don't think we planted it and it seems to self set.
A little unnerved by the misty start to the day but it stayed warm and the late afternoon sun was delightful. We took a walk through the water meadows and up, round and down St Catherine's Hill, I had not seen the maze on top of the hill. It is marked out as it was/has been since the 17th century. A lovely walk and we did not get lost in the maze.
