My topsy-turvy life

Doesn't look that rough

Another dreary day weather-wise up in the East Neuk of Fife but we had a well earned longed for lie in and lazy morning while we hoped that the rain would at least abate a little. Unfortunately we abandoned that idea, grabbed our waterproofs, and headed out, this time over to Loch Leven.

On an island in the loch is Lochleven castle. Mary Queen of Scots was imprissoned here in 1567-8 (wikipedia again) and forced to abdicate her throne. She was only here for a year before she escaped across the loch, giving me an image of her trying to swim in all the royal regalia of the time.

You can get a boat over to the castle but we were informed by Willie McMaster (is there a more Scottish name) that the boats weren't running as the water was getting quite rough. So we thought we'd just had a short amble around the loch to get a view of the castle. This is about the closest you can get to the castle along the shore of the loch and about the best picture my camera could manage in this weather.

On the way back to the car, we saw a boat with people on it scudding across the loch...
