Saturday 2 June 2012: Gina's Apiary
My practical beekeeping class this week was at Gina's apiary near Linlithgow. Looking back on the photos of the second hive we checked, I can see a distinct increase in the number of bees buzzing around with each shot taken. These bees were not happy about our intrusion into their otherwise peaceful afternoon. However, this was part of a colony which swarmed 11 days ago and so it was important to check all was well with the queen cells and it was. There's so much to learn about beekeeping!
The afternoon was perfectly rounded off with tea and cake in Gina's summer house :o)
