The fool on the hill

Not a good day - weatherwise and otherwise. B and I have come to an impasse when it comes to the house buying.
B's argument: It's big, it has four stories, it has 12 rooms, 4 great big bedrooms, it has a great kitchen, it is empty and ready to go, it has old features, she just loves it (like women do).
My argument: It's big, it has 12 rooms, it has 11 sash windows that will all need painting soon (with a 40' scaffold in place), it will cost a bomb to heat, it has no off-road parking, it faces north east in the shadow of a big hill, it will need constant maintenance, it is a grade 2 listed building (I don't want to have to be the one preserving it for posterity by order of the law), the garden is a bit of a mess, it is a terrace house, it is on a B road, the garden is overlooked by several houses (I'm not bothered but someone I know will be), it is overpriced for the work needed (I first thought it was a bargain when he quickly agreed to drop the price by 20K), it has been on the market for a while. Most of all the location is crap - and its all about location isn't it? It is a great house - until you walk out the door.
